Student Ministry Opportunities Abound!
Many ministries are available to allow students to gain practical knowledge in addition to their regular studies. These practical ministries are called practica. Each student is required to actively participate in a practicum during his enrollment at Dayspring. Practica are designed to give students practical church ministry experiences under the direction of qualified supervision. By relating the student’s academic education to supervised practical experience, the student will be better equipped to handle the responsibilities of church leadership. The college administration will assign a practicum to the student depending upon the ministries available and the student’s abilities. Credit will be given each semester for a practicum. The number of credit hours given will be based on the intensity of the practicum and will be at the discretion of the administration. The following is not an exhaustive list of the practica that are available.

Sunday School classes for the children are divided by age groups. The number of classes and subjects for adult Sunday School classes varies. Classes offered are divided by topics and ages. At the conclusion of the term, people may continue with a class or select another class that best suits their spiritual needs. At times, Dayspring students may be invited to teach or help in one of these classes.
Evangelism - Various ministries afford the students an opportunity to personally share their faith with others.
• Juvenile Detention Ministry Qualifying students may be invited to join in a teaching and preaching ministry at a local juvenile detention facility. Many have come to know Christ as their Savior through this ministry.
• Rescue Missions The Pacific Garden Mission is another outreach in which the student may get involved. Selected men are afforded the opportunity to preach the gospel to many people. It is rewarding for the student to learn to prepare and deliver messages from God’s Word.
• Reformers Unanimous Reformers Unanimous is a faith-based, Christ centered addictions recovery program that directs the addicted back to God’s support group–the local church. Reformers Unanimous is the nation’s fastest growing faith-based addiction recovery program. Working in this program will provide the student with ample opportunities for personal growth by helping others grow in Christ.
• Telephone Ministry Many telephone calls from around the country come into the church from viewers and listeners of the Victory In Grace broadcasts. They call for many different reasons. The telephone operators have the opportunity to lead many of these callers to a saving knowledge of Christ, give them Bible verses for comfort, or pray for them.
Pastoral Internship Program - Male students and graduates who feel called of God to the pastorate may be invited by the administration to participate in the Internship Program. Those selected may be given on-the-job training as an extension of their Dayspring studies. They may be licensed to preach, and among other duties, may assist in the sacerdotal functions of the church (the Lord’s Supper and Baptism), visitation in homes and hospitals, preaching, youth ministries and assisting the Pastor in the normal activities of the church.
Mission Experience - Students may receive college credit if they are actively engaged in a ministry on a mission field. The amount of credit given will depend on the nature and duration of the activity and must be approved by the administration.
Music Programs - A vital part of any ministry is the music. Dayspring encourages students to participate in this exciting ministry of praise and edification. The church adult choir provides qualified students with opportunities to perform. The music selections are conservative, yet exciting. Select students may be featured in solos or small groups. Auditions may be required for the adult choir. The church has an orchestra. Qualifying students may enjoy this ministry. Concerts and other special programs are often performed during holidays, giving opportunities for music and drama. This outreach is well-attended by families and people from near and far. Many souls have been saved through these special presentations. Students may get involved in many different ways, such as singing, acting, set design and building, makeup, costumes, sound and lighting, etc.
Dayspring is pleased to feature a very talented traveling singing group named Sounds of Grace. Selected students are able to travel and perform at churches across the nation. Along with the musical presentation, the students are able to share their testimonies. This is a great opportunity to both honor the Lord and promote the college.
Leadership Conference - Each year the Quentin Road Bible Baptist Church hosts a national Grace Conference. Dayspring students are able to participate in this event. Speakers include Dr. Charles Ryrie, Dr. Robert Lightner, and Dr. James A. Scudder. In addition, a variety of workshops are presented on a wide variety of subjects.
